GLOSSARY//C
C is for Calico
noun. see also muslin
Calico is cheap, unbleached, cotton fabric used for making toiles. Also referred to as muslin.
Calico comes in several different weights, from very light gauze fabrics to very heavy, stiff canvas. Which weight you use depends on the weight on the final fabric you want to use, the calico should reflect the weight and drape of your final fabric so your toile is as similar as possible to how your final garment will look.
Calico is a reasonably stable fabric making it easy to sew.
